Become the HR professional in your organization whose workplace investigations hold up under scrutiny every time.

The IDEAL Workplace Investigation Blueprintâ„

is a comprehensive, self-paced training that walks you through the investigation process from beginning to end:  from the moment a complaint lands in your inbox to the moment the report is submitted, and the investigation is closed.

The IDEAL Workplace Investigation Blueprint℠ uses the same frameworks and methodologies I've used for twenty-plus years as an employment attorney.  I’ve taken all my missteps, errors and hard-learned lessons and transformed them into a training that provides practical, step-by-step guidance and a structured, defensible process every HR professional can follow again and again.

Here’s a scenario any HR advisor can recognize.

A complaint lands on your desk. You set your bag down and start thinking.

→ Do I need to investigate this formally, or is it the kind of thing to resolve another way?
→ Who do I interview first?
→ In what order?
→ What if one of the identified witnesses gets defensive?
→ What if the respondent says they want an attorney present?
→ Am I documenting this the right way, or am I quietly creating a problem for myself two years from now?

Your manager wants the matter handled swiftly.

So you make the calls yourself. You ask the questions you think you should ask. You write the notes you think you should write. You finish the investigation. You write the report. You send it to leadership. The matter, for now, is resolved.

But every HR professional knows the feeling that arrives later:

Did I ask the right questions?

Did I document it the right way?

Will this hold up in review later?

If you’ve felt that doubt, or the in-the-moment confusion that came before it, please don’t think you're bad at your job. You are not. You’re simply missing the one thing no HR credential program teaches: the operational framework that attorneys actually use to conduct investigations that hold up under scrutiny.

Here’s what most people won’t tell you about workplace investigations.

Most times, you will be the one who has to run them.

You'll run them under time-constraints, often without a colleague to bounce ideas off, and with the expectation that you “just handle it.”  If that sounds familiar, it’s not just your organization.

The work you do is real. It is important.

Unfortunately, you may not always have the support you need. The standard your investigation is held to doesn’t bend to accommodate any of these facts.

of HR departments report they don’t have enough staff to cover the workload they already have
of HR executives cite lack of time and dedicated personnel as the single biggest barrier to achieving their priorities.

That standard isn’t “did I do my best?”  It’s whether the investigation file and the report of investigation can stand up under scrutiny, when someone you’ve never met (an employee’s attorney, an EEOC investigator, opposing counsel, a jury) reviews what you wrote and decides whether your conclusions were reasonable and sound.

The hidden costs of getting it wrong aren’t the investigation itself.

They’re everything that comes after.

And the financial cost isn’t abstract:

→ The average cost to defend a single employment lawsuit is approximately $75,000.
→ Hostile work environment settlements averaged over $50,00 in 2024.
→ Federal damages caps for discrimination claims run from $50,000 to $300,000 depending on employer size.

The IDEAL Workplace Investigation Blueprintâ„  will do much more than improve your knowledge of how investigations work, it will improve your ability to manage risk, and to sidestep potential legal or financial issues before they land your employer in court, or even worse create a costly exposure event.

Why I built this program and how it is different than other trainings.

  •  In twenty-plus years of practicing employment law and nearly a decade leading workplace investigations, I’ve watched too many capable HR professionals get tripped up by the same handful of avoidable mistakes. I built the training I wish every HR professional had access to before their first investigation.
  •  This course is a full operational system, designed to build your skills, not just test your knowledge or your memory. Every module is built around real-world case scenarios that test your judgment in the moments that matter: how to plan and sequence witness interviews, the questioning techniques that draw out facts (not legal conclusions), how to issue-spot, how to gather and preserve documentary evidence, how to document your findings, and how to write a report that closes the case cleanly.
  •  Embedded knowledge checks at every stage confirm you’ve integrated the material before you move on AND 30+ templates and scripts mean you won’t be starting from a blank page the next time a complaint lands on your desk.

What’s inside the training, specifically.

The Blueprint is built around a five-phase methodology: the IDEAL framework [ I - D - E - A - L  ] is taught across seven self-paced modules with more than four hours of video instruction, 30+ scripts, templates, and checklists, real-world case studies, and embedded knowledge checks so you can confirm what you’ve learned before you move on.

MODULE 1

Foundations

What makes a workplace investigation legally defensible. The four pillars (timeliness, thoroughness, confidentiality, impartiality), the difference between an HR investigation and a legal one, and a walkthrough of how courts and agencies evaluate investigations after the fact. By the end, you’ll understand the standard you’re building toward.

MODULE 2

I: Intake the Concern

How to receive a complaint, define its scope, and determine whether a formal investigation is necessary. Threshold criteria, anonymous and third-party reports, and how to decide who should conduct the investigation, including when to bring in outside counsel and when you can handle it in-house.

MODULE 3

D: Document Through Neutral Interviews

How to hone your Interviewing craft. Preparing interview outlines, sequencing witnesses, opening the interview, asking questions that draw out facts without leading, specific techniques that get interviewees to tell you what they were going to leave out, and how to memorialize the conversation in a way that survives review years later.

MODULE 4

E: Evaluate Evidence

How to gather and assess documentary evidence,  emails, messages, performance records, security footage, calendars. The structured framework for weighing each piece of evidence against each allegation, identifying gaps, and knowing when to dig deeper.

MODULE 5

A: Analyze Findings

The credibility assessment framework attorneys use when allegations conflict, applied to the messy realities of workplace investigations. How to make evidence-based findings on each allegation, how to avoid the cognitive biases that quietly destroy investigations, and how to articulate your reasoning so the file shows its work.

MODULE 6

L: Lock In the Report & Resolution

Writing the report that closes the case. The specific language to use, the language to avoid, how to structure findings, and how to recommend remedial action that’s proportionate, defensible, and protective.

MODULE 7

Closing the Investigation

Communicating outcomes to the parties. Implementing remedial measures. Protecting against retaliation. Closing the file in a way that the organization, the parties, and you can all live with. And what to do if the case ever comes back.

Every module includes:

case studies, cases that succeeded and cases that failed, so you see the framework applied to investigations like the ones you’ll run yourself. Every lesson maps directly back to the IDEAL Framework℠, so by the end, the entire method is integrated into how you think about every investigation.

Bonuses included with every enrollment.

BONUS 1

The Investigator’s Template Library

30+ scripts, templates, and frameworks I created myself: intake forms, interview outlines, conflict-of-interest assessments, credibility scoring sheets, evidence logs, the report template I trust, and the closing letters that protect every party. You won’t have to build any of this from scratch.

BONUS 2

The Private Investigator’s Community

Lifetime access to a private community of HR professionals working through the same material. Discuss case studies, ask questions, share what’s working in your investigations, and learn from people running the same playbook.

BONUS 3

The Recommended Tech Stack

A curated guide to the tools I use myself for secure case management, evidence preservation, transcription, and document handling.

BONUS 4

The Legal Resources Pack

A current roundup of the statutes, regulations, and case law that matter most to workplace investigators, organized by topic so you can find what you need fast when an investigation surfaces an unfamiliar issue.

BONUS 5

Lifetime Access

Every time the training is updated, you get the updates free. The work doesn’t stop evolving. Neither does what you have access to.

OPTIONAL

The VIP Upgrade

For HR professionals who want personalized review of their actual templates, policies, and procedures, not just the ones in the course, there’s an optional VIP upgrade. A one-on-one review of the investigation templates and policies your organization is using today (or about to launch), with my written recommendations for what to keep, what to revise, and where you may be quietly exposed. Available only after enrollment.

What changes when you have a system.

The IDEAL Workplace Investigation Blueprint℠ doesn’t just give you more information. It gives you a complete ecosystem: a structured, repeatable process, and full- proof methodologies, frameworks, and tools that are legally defensible, but made practical for HR professionals.

→ how to close the investigation: what to communicate and what to keep confidential, and
→ how to implement post-investigation monitoring and prevent retaliation

From improvising to executing. From anxiety to authority.

From “I hope this is enough” to “this is what an attorney would do.”

About Kimberlee, creator of the IDEAL Workplace Investigation Blueprintâ„

I am an employment attorney with more than twenty years of experience at the intersection of employment law, workplace investigations, and HR strategy. I’ve spent eight-plus years conducting investigations and leading a team of attorneys who do the same. I’ve personally led dozens of workplace investigations involving sensitive harassment, discrimination, and misconduct claims.

I’ve worked both sides of the table: I’ve worked in employment defense representing corporations, at plaintiff-side firms, and for trade associations representing employees, which means I understand both litigation risk and employee pain points. I’ve trained HR professionals for years and provided preventative counseling on the full range of employee relations and employment law matters.

I’m a certified EEO Investigator through the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and I’ve been trained by the Association of Workplace Investigations in trauma-informed investigations.

But more than the credentials: I built this training because I genuinely care whether HR professionals can do this work competently without losing sleep.

That’s what this training is built to do. My promise to you isn’t “you’ll get information.” It’s “you’ll walk away prepared, capable and ready.”

The Blueprint is what an attorney would teach if she’d actually spent 20 years watching investigations fail in litigation: this course is priced for individual HR professionals, delivered on your schedule, and includes the templates you’d otherwise build from scratch, and lifetime access to the program and a community of peers, doing the work just like you.

The 30-Day Confident Practice Guarantee
